Our Team

Ashley Horton
Pastor

Ashley looks after the various ministries at Southern and is responsible for the bulk of the public teaching. On the side, he has been lecturing a class in Hebrew at Trinity Theological College since 2016. Ash’s passion is to see people living for Jesus and bringing other people to know Jesus too.

Ash has been serving at Southern since July 2018 and had previously been a pastor of Atwell Community Church. His background includes a ministry apprenticeship with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students at the University of Western Australia and a Masters of Divinity at Trinity Theological College.

He is married to Alexia and they have two primary school age children.

Liz Shanhun
Ministry Director

Liz is responsible for training some of our leaders, helping newcomers connect into our church and leading us in reaching out to our local community with the good news of Christ. She started at Southern in Feburary 2023 and is a very welcome addition to our staff team!

Liz has a Masters of Divinity at Trinity Theological College, and brings with her some great practical ministry training she’s gained through university student ministry and church-based ministry.
